Ofsted
Bowness Primary School is now graded as ‘Good’ with an outstanding feature for personal development and welfare, following the recent Ofsted inspection in October. This is a particularly huge achievement as it is the first time in the history of the school that this rating has been given since Ofsted was formed. The school has worked closely with the Prestolee Multi Academy Trust since 2015, with the leaders of the trust working alongside the Head Teacher, leaders and staff to improve outcomes. Over the last two years, as the trust has grown, the Bowness team have worked relentlessly to become a contributor to the Trust, and the school is now successful in its approach to create the next generation of leaders within the trust. Staff at Bowness work together with all the schools to share resources, whether this is business management, developing teaching and learning or assessment models and are beginning to share those resources across the Trust and beyond. The Ofsted good judgement is an absolute credit to all staff at the school and within the Trust who have contributed to creating this environment and learning culture. The Ofsted report 2018 states…
“This is a happy school”
“Children love learning”
“Teachers plan lessons that engage children’s interest”
“Children get off to a flying start in EYFS”
“Pupils benefit from a range of activities to enrich their learning”
Bowness is a small, family school and the team work hard working towards the trust vision of ‘Every child a reader, Every child a writer, Every child numerate, A school where every child has the chance to shine and is prepared for a future of possibilities’. This is central and vital to all decision making and is a key driver to school improvement at Bowness and throughout the trust. A huge thank you and well done to all staff involved!
