Governance

Welcome From the Chair
Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing to introduce myself as the Chair of Governors at Bowness Primary School. My name is Nicole Devlin and I have been part of the governing body since July 2021 when I was first appointed as a Governor.
Bowness is a good school and is also part of the Prestolee multi-Academy Trust which gives us access to extra resources and the capacity to collaborate with other schools for our children to receive the best possible education.
Our Governing Board is made up of staff, community and parent governors, each bringing a range of experience and knowledge to the role. The purpose of the Local Governing Board is to set the strategic direction of the school, we believe that every child should receive a first-class education to give them the best opportunity in the future.
Our responsibility is to monitor and evaluate the performance and effectiveness of the school, ensure that the budget is managed well and that staff are supported constructively. We are here to assist and encourage our Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and all school personnel to ensure that every child has access to a high quality and enriched education.
Our school is like a family and often referred to as the Bowness family which is a partnership between the school staff, parents, governors and our children.
All policies and school information including our weekly newsletters are on our website. Please remember that the website is an effective way of keeping up to date with all aspects of school life.
Kind Regards,
Nicole Devlin
