The Bowness Early Years Journey
At Bowness, children learn through play, exploration, communication and meaningful experiences. We create an environment where children feel secure, valued and inspired to discover the world around them. Through nurturing relationships, ambitious learning opportunities and a strong sense of belonging, we help every child develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to thrive now and in the future.
The Bowness Way in EYFS
The Bowness Way is at the heart of our Early Years curriculum. Every day, children are encouraged to be Ready, Respectful, Safe and Resilient as they learn through play, exploration and discovery. We develop Confident Communicators through rich language experiences, nurture Healthy Heroes who understand the importance of wellbeing, inspire Creative Minds who are curious and imaginative, and support children to become Global Citizens who value and respect the world around them. By fostering these qualities from the very start of their educational journey, we help our children become Future Ready, while creating a culture where every child feels they belong, is proud of who they are and is excited about who they can become.

Yearly Overview
_
_
Our curriculum is bespoke to the children and families we serve. We recognise that children join us with a wide range of experiences and starting points, therefore our curriculum is carefully designed to reflect our local community whilst providing rich opportunities that extend children's knowledge beyond it. Knowledge and skills are coherently planned and sequenced, ensuring children develop secure foundations and build learning over time. We have high ambitions for every child and believe that no child should be limited by their starting point. Through purposeful direct teaching, meaningful first-hand experiences and carefully considered continuous provision, we ensure children develop the confidence, vocabulary and cultural capital needed to thrive in school and beyond.
High Quality Stories & Rhymes in EYFS

_
_
At Bowness Primary School, we have carefully chosen a core collection of stories and rhymes that children experience regularly throughout their time in Early Years. These texts are rich in repetition, rhyme, actions and predictable patterns, which help children to join in, develop confidence and build strong listening and language skills. Traditional tales are included to give all children access to shared stories and important cultural experiences, while familiar rhymes are used daily to support enjoyment, memory and participation. By revisiting these high‑quality texts and rhymes, we create a sense of familiarity and excitement, help children develop a love of stories and songs, and lay strong foundations for reading, communication and learning.
