Bowness Community Primary School

Balloon Release 2016

Balloon Release

Looking Up!

We all assembled in the sun together

On a beautiful morning at Bowness

To release our balloons to soar forever

All over the country – more or less..

It was a release of hope and optimism

They were found as far as Wiltshire

They seemed to have their own tourism

Carried by the wind, they did inspire.

Many people reported their finds

So excited by the privilege

It captured their hearts and minds

Right there - in their village.

And it made us all look up in unity

And think about the world anew

We are all part of our wider community

And that includes me and you.

The Bowness balloon release occurred on 10th October 2016. The prevailing winds carried the balloons in a southerly direction and over 30 balloons were reported in excess of a hundred miles apart.

Community is one of our key drivers within our values and our curriculum.

Many thanks to everybody who contacted the school to let us know they had found one of our balloons. Please click on the following link to find out whose balloons were found and how far they travelled!

Balloon Landings

We linked up with Bowness-on-Solway Primary School in Cumbria for our big event, who also did their own balloon release at the same time. We look forward to hearing all about how far their balloons travelled too!

Here are some of our balloon release photo's...
